We are so excited for spring break to be done, having practices back in session and a SUP Saturday just around the corner! SUP's player of the week hails from Coastal Academy 2nd grader, Sophiagrace Gregorio-Ceballos! In drills, scrimmages and games, opponents quickly learn to not underestimate her tiny stature. She is not afraid to get into the scrum and she usually comes away with the ball. This is her first semester with SUP and first formal soccer team membership but its hard to believe that could be true. Sophiagrace quickly caught on to proper shooting technique and she always gives each drill her all and its clear the other kids are learning from her soft spoken leadership.
"Sophiagrace shows great tenacity for the game and she always goes at 100%. She never wants to miss a practice, game or drill and makes sure she watches and supports her teammates if she ever is waiting for it to be her turn. It's always fun seeing opponents get surprised with how quick and strong her ball skills and shooting are!" - Coach Brian
We asked her a few questions and learned she is also quite well spoken!
Outside of soccer, what do you like to do for fun?
I like to play or go swimming with my brother.
What have you learned being in SUP?
Don't give up! I almost gave up at my first game because I didn't understand everything at first. Then I came back the next week and made a goal! I love going to the games!!
What makes a good leader?
Being kind and not bossy.
What's your favorite position?
FORWARD! I get to run all over the field!
What's your favorite subject in school?
"Books & Cooks." We get to learn about countries and make food from the country. We learned about Japan and I made a rice ball.
Be sure to congratulate Sophiagrace next you see her on the pitch and watch out for those skills!
